This week marked an important milestone at GRC, reaching 10,000 projects since the company’s inception in 1987.

Over three decades ago Stuart Gray, Graeme Robinson and Neville Cottrell partnered to form Gray Robinson & Cottrell Pty Ltd in Brisbane’s western suburbs.

Co-Founder Neville Cottrell recalls the early days of commencing the business in a downstairs rumpus room with only a handful of clients and no employees. By 1991 the firm had expanded to open the first official office in Jephson St, Toowong with a growing clientele, projects beyond the Brisbane-base and an expanded expertise. The initial focus for the business was on building the brand within the Built Environment and Financial sectors, securing many opportunities with local councils and major banks.

Neville commented:

“During the early years I recall our work with many Brisbane-based developers and working alongside these organisations to secure their first entry into the residential market. The company’s first residential project was a seven-storey residential complex located on the banks of the Brisbane River at St Lucia, featuring 1 unit per floor at a starting price of $355,000.”

From suburban residential developments the company has expanded to include an impressive portfolio of projects both locally and internationally, including Roma Street Parklands; Palazzo Versace; Brisbane Broncos Training, Administration and Community Facility (TACF); New Zealand Ultra Fast Broadband, Amrun and WestConnex.

GRC has always had a focus on developing and building long-term client relationships to ensure that true value could consistently be achieved. “I never would have anticipated to be part of the company we have today, and I am proud of the many clients who still share in our journey over thirty years later”, commented Neville.
