APLNG Water Treatment Facilities

The APLNG Water Treatment Facilities treat water produced by Australia Pacific LNG’s coal seam gas wells for irrigation and injection into underground aquifers. The project involved the construction of water storage ponds, chemical storage tanks and the water treatment plant housed in steel framed buildings. The project was extended to include the Miles Aerodrome upgrade.

Main project: GRC assisted CPB Contractors on site and from our Brisbane office with estimating, contract administration, procurement and dispute resolution services. Importantly, our services helped capture time and cost impact throughout this rapidly changing project. Our cost control measures limited CPB’s exposure to risk and helped them achieve successful negotiations around budget variations.

Insurance claims: GRC assisted with the preparation of CPB Contractor’s successful inclement weather insurance claim, including consolidating and preparing claim documents as well as negotiations with the insurer and opposing loss adjusters.

Subcontract dispute resolution: GRC assisted CPB Contractor’s legal defence against sub-contract claims. GRC’s role included forensic analysis of project events, assessment and valuation of subcontract claims, working in collaboration with CPB’s legal counsel and assistance with trial preparation.

The project construction manager from CPB Contractors praised GRC’s contribution to this project:

GRC captured the quantum and cost of these changes to allow construction work to maintain its momentum, and successfully reach milestone dates within the contract. These evaluations were well documented, accurate and presented in a timely and efficient manner. GRC’s input into this change management, undoubtedly, contributed significantly to the outcome of this project.
