Gold Coast Light Rail Stage 1
Completed in 2014, Gold Coast Light Rail Stage 01 was an ambitious, city-changing infrastructure project that integrated new and existing transport systems, supported urban regeneration and facilitated sustainable transit-orientated development.
With 14 trams and 16 stations, the light rail system services a 13-kilometer route between Gold Coast University Hospital and Broadbeach, which is considered to be one of the fastest growing regions in Australia.
One of the most significant pieces of public transport in south-east Queensland, the project received high levels of stakeholder satisfaction and strong community ownership and advocacy. GRC worked with McConnell Dowell to provide contract administration services during the project.
