Major Highway Upgrade, NZ
This major highway upgrade involves constructing a 27km four-lane median-divided motorway procured through a Public Private Partnership (PPP) model. Once the highway is complete, it will help remedy the projected capacity problems and current safety and congestion concerns on the existing State Highway 1, New Zealand. It will also provide a route that is more resilient to natural disasters than the existing coastal highway.
Since appointment, GRC has been progressively remeasuring and cost planning the project – including providing schedules of quantities to support subcontract tendering, assisting with onsite commercial administration, and delivering commercial quantity surveying advice. The highway is scheduled to be open to traffic in 2020.
