Redcliffe Hospital ICU Refurbishment
Redcliffe Hospital’s Intensive Care Unit was refurbished in mid-2020 in the middle of COVID-19 restrictions. Redcliffe’s ICU provides critical care to patients who are seriously ill or with life threatening injuries.
The ICU offers specialist intensive care services for a wide range of critically-ill adult patients. The $6.2 million upgrade included a refurbishment and installation of a second CT scanner and better emergency facilities for children in the emergency department redesign. The project required enclosing two rooms as isolation rooms in Stage 1 and reconfiguring the storage area in Stage 2. An upgrade to two existing rooms to Class N isolation occurred in Stage 3 and the final stage included the addition of a single staff toilet.
GRC was able to complete the works on time in the highly-sensitive setting whilst the Global Pandemic restrictions were unpredictable and constant. The publicly sensitive works occurred with minimal disruption to the Intensive Care Unit’s operations.
